A study to disseminate Japanese sewerage technologies is conducted in Myanmar

"The Study on Development System of Sewerage System in Yangon, Myanmar" is now in progress by a public-private joint team that includes Osaka City. The study is sponsored by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
The study will explore how to disseminate Japanese sewerage technologies in Yangon city, where water environment issue is a major problem, by learning the current situation of wastewater treatment and the needs there and also deliberating a phased development plan for sewerage system based on its actual situation.
Osaka city and Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC) have signed an MOU on technical cooperation in September 2014. Since then two cities have been building close relationship in many fields, including sewerage field, through cooperation programs, such as a JICA Partnership Program titled "Capacity Development of Sewer Pipes O&M and Rehabilitation Project in Yangon city." These continued cooperation has led to the proposal of this study by a public-private joint team, which is aimed at improving sewerage system in Yangon city.
The joint team consists of TEC International Co., Ltd., Hitachi Zosen Co., Ltd., Urban Infrastructure Technology Center Foundation, and Public Works Bureau of Osaka City Government. All members work as a team by contributing each other with each own unique experiences and know-hows.
